Golf Society:

The Killeagh GAA Golf Classic comes of age this year, with our 21st Annual Golf Classic. Our 2016 Classic was another great success thanks to all those who contributed so generously, both golfers and sponsors, and we were blessed with good weather also! The funds raised are absolutely essential to keep our club’s finances in good health, and to finance the loans we have incurred in developing our excellent facilities in Páirc Uí Chinnéide. 2017 will see further development of our facilities and continued commitment to our ongoing work with our teams and our community. This year’s Golf Classic will take place in West Waterford Golf Club on Thursday July 13th, Friday July 14th and Saturday July 15th. Please contact our Golf Classic Chairman, Ray Rochford on 0872330054 to see how you can help this year.

Society Outing:

The next society outing is to Youghal GC on Saturday June 17th with tee times from 12pm. This outing is our Captain's Prize outing which is being presented this year by Mr. Michael (Haulie) Collins. Healthy Clubs Project

Killeagh GAA - Killeagh Camogie - Inch Rovers Ladies Football - Killeagh-Ita's Juvenile GAA

The Healthy Clubs Project continues with weekly and monthly events. The focus in the past number of weeks, as the weather tries its best to show us signs of summer, has been on physical activity, with our walking group out on walks number 15 and 16, our new CouchTo5K running group getting going in Páirc Uí Chinnéide, and our latest venture, Hatha Yoga, taking off with a burst of enthusiastic participants under the watchful eye of Sinéad ní Chionaola on Tuesday evenings and Thursday mornings. These Yoga classes will continue for the next few weeks, at 6.00 p.m. on Tuesday evenings and at 9.15 a.m. on Thursday mornings. Our beginner and returning joggers have been clocking up the kilometres around the perimeter of the pitches over the past few Monday evenings and this continues every Monday evening at 7.30 p.m., with new people always welcome to come along, whether you are in the GAA pitch with your children or you have no prior involvement in any of the clubs. Meanwhile, the rain has hampered our past two walks, but failed to dampen the enthusiasm of those who have come along, including some ‘first-timers’ on both walks. On Bank Holiday Monday the group walked from Blue Flag Redbarn Beach to another landmark, Youghal Lighthouse, and back, taking in the beautiful Claycastle to Front Strand Boardwalk on the way. The following Sunday, June 11th, some returning and some first-time walkers trekked from Inch to historic and spectacular Rath Fort, with a handful making the daunting exploration into the souterrain to imagine life one thousand years ago in these parts. Having seen the fort, our next stop was to visit the intriguing Ardagh Graveyard where Eileen Kennedy told her walking companions about the sad history of the “huts” and the 86 families evicted with battering rams by the local landlord in the late 19th century, forced to live in abject conditions in Ardagh for a number of years before the dispute was eventually resolved.

Our next walk will be in July when we tackle Galtybeg / Galtymore in preparation for a planned assault on Carrantuohill in August. We also urge anyone involved in the Healthy Clubs Project and all in our community and surrounding areas to come to Mount Uniacke on Wednesday June 28th to participate in the local Inch Festival 5K walk and run, with the walker off at 6.45 p.m. and the run beginning at 8.00 p.m.
