East Cork Leagues 2017:

Glenbower Rovers played Cloyne on March 20th @7.30pm in Killeagh in The Bishop Roche Cup for the Division 1 football league and emerged victorious on a final score of 1-14 to 0-06. We got stuck into this game from the start and with Sean Long leading the way winning two frees and scoring them. This was a good team performance with our defence playing well and we had some nice passages of football. Johnno was on fire on the scoring front and was ably backed up by an impressive Philip O Neill. We went on to win the game on a score of 1-14 to 6pts and now have two wins from two games and it was perfect preparation for our championship game with our near neighbours Castlemartyr on the following Saturday afternoon. Team: S.Scully, A.Morrison, A.Keniry, M.Fitzgerald, E.Fitzgibbon, C.Fogarty, S. Murphy, G.Collins, K.Lane, C.Deane, C.O Brien, D. O Brien, J. O Connor, S. Long, P. O Neill. Subs: S. Lucey, D.O Keeffe.

On Saturday March 25th our junior team played Castlemartyr in the junior ‘A’ Championship at 3.00pm in Youghal. Playing in near ideal conditions we were slow to get going in this game as Castlemartyr were really up for it and they deserved their eight points lead after twenty minutes(1-6 to -1). We eventually settled with a few positional changes and some good scores from Sean Long. We began to dominate the game and finished the half just a point down (1-6 to 1-5). After a good chat at half time and playing with the breeze we dominated the second half and played some nice attacking football and picked up some good scores. The final score was Glenbower Rovers 4-10 Castlemartyr 1-07. So we now go through to the quarter final of the championship, after receiving a bye from round 3. This is down to be played on the weekend of the 29th of April. Thanks again all our supporters who came out to cheer us on.

Team S.Scully, A.Morrison, A.Keniry, M.Fitzgerald, S. Murphy P. O Brien, C. Fogarty, K.Lane, G.Collins, C.Deane, C.O Brien, D. O Brien, J. O Connor, S.Long, P. O Neill. Subs used M Murphy, E.Fitzgibbon.

Your support is greatly appreciated by everyone connected with all of our teams, so please try to come to the games to support the lads.

Healthy Clubs Project

Killeagh Healthy Clubs Project is an initiative jointly run by the 4 clubs using Páirc Uí Chinnéide namely, Killeagh GAA, Killeagh Camogie, Inch Rovers Ladies Football and Killeagh-Ita’s Juvenile GAA Clubs. The project has been running since February 2016 and many activities and changes in practices have taken place under its direction. There have been monthly walks, a CouchTo5K running group, Páirc Uí Chinnéide has gone ‘smoke-free’, and there has been an emphasis on healthy eating in activities run by all four clubs. In recognition of the work done to date, the Killeagh Healthy Clubs Project has been selected as one of the ‘Champion Clubs’ to spread the message of healthy living to other clubs and communities.
