Junior Football League Division 3 Round 2 in Castlelyons on Sunday 19th February

Castlelyons 0-7 Carrig 0-7

Carrig’s junior footballers went into this game after an encouraging win over Fr O’Neill’s in the league opener. This was a fantastic display by our footballers who dug out a very commendable draw in Castleyons despite playing with 14 players at various times having had Jay Horgan black carded and Danny O’Mahony go down with an injury. Clive Cremin and Marty came in to man the gaps and fair dues to both of them for togging off. With the game evenly balanced in the second half the elders in the team showed great leadership and there was great credit due to Ted, Tomás, Seamus Roche and Liam O’Sullivan. Chris Keegan’s kick outs were pin point and he had an excellent game in goal for us. Carrig and Castlelyons are also set to meet in the championship opener and Castlemartyr, Glanmire and St. Catherine’s round out the division. Its back-to-back draws for Castlelyons as both teams maintain an unbeaten start to the league campaign with Carrig setting the pace at the top.

Team: Chris Keegan, Conor O Mahony, Aaron Gosnell, Ted Sullivan, Paul Bardon, Jay Horgan, Tomas Hogan, Seamus Roche, Danny O’Mahony, Shane Healy, Liam O’Sullivan, Ciaran Gosnell, Colin Santry, Sean Rohan and Adam McNamara.
