Healthy Clubs Project

Killeagh Healthy Clubs Project is an initiative jointly run by the 4 clubs using Páirc Uí Chinnéide namely, Killeagh GAA, Killeagh Camogie, Inch Rovers Ladies Football and Killeagh-Ita’s Juvenile GAA Clubs. The project has been running since February 2016 and many activities and changes in practices have taken place under its direction. There have been monthly walks, a CouchTo5K running group, Páirc Uí Chinnéide has gone ‘smoke-free’, and there has been an emphasis on healthy eating in activities run by all four clubs. In recognition of the work done to date, the Killeagh Healthy Clubs Project has been selected as one of the ‘Champion Clubs’ to spread the message of healthy living to other clubs and communities. This process begins in Nemo Rangers on Saturday February 18th when the Healthy Clubs Munster Roadshow takes place. Killeagh Healthy Clubs Project Team will be assisting camogie and now media star and Healthy Clubs Ambassador Anna Geary in promoting Healthy Eating. With a large crowd expected, this is a good fillip for the enthusiastic team behind the Killeagh Healthy Clubs Project, and will provide an incentive to continue the good work throughout 2017. For more about the Healthy Clubs Roadshow, log on to www.gaa.ie/my-gaa/community-and-health/.

We are encouraging all Runners, Joggers or Walkers to come out and support this event and to try and build on the success of last year. There are a number of couch to 5km running groups to help anyone interested in beginning to get active for the New Year such as: Our own Healthy Clubs running group who are running the streets of Killeagh regularly over the winter, contact Coleman Motherway or Helen Cusack for more information. Youghal AC have a beginners woman's group each Monday meeting at Tides car park at 6pm. Ballintotis Fit for Life are also catering for anyone interested in taking up running for the New Year.
