Long Puck

St Stephens dawned and anxious participants in the annual ‘Long Puck’ drew back the curtains to see if it would fall foul of storms for the second year running. However there should have been no such worries as the sun shone and the sky was clear. This year in conjunction with the Puck Fada, Killeagh Healthy Clubs decided to hold a walk to encourage more people to come out and enjoy this hugely sociable event. This year we had almost 60 teams leaving from Mount Uniacke, with reports that some may still be coming down the road! This is a day for the community to come out to support Killeagh GAA in its fundraising efforts for ACT (Active Cancer Treatment) and once again we were blown away with the generosity shown by everybody. Over €1300 was raised for this worthwhile charity and we thank all who helped to achieve this staggering amount. There is a lot of work which goes into making this a great parish event so thanks to one and all for your efforts.

Killeagh/Ita's Juvenile Club held their annual table quiz in The Old Thatch in Killeagh on Thursday 29th December. As usual this was fantastic night as people came out to get their brains back in action after the Christmas festivities. It was a great night for all the participants where all the peace and goodwill of the holiday period was forgotten for a few hours. Well done to Denis Barry and his team of Nollaig, Donnacha and Eddie Leahy who claimed the title on the night. In a close second was Denis's son Dave with Kieran Scully, Tom Ashman and Len O Regan. Last of the prize winners of the night were Colm Crowley's team. There was little between the three team during the entire quiz and one wrong answer could easily have altered the end result. The hospitality in the Thatch was excellent as usual and the interval finger food was very much appreciated by all. Thanks to everybody who donated prizes for the raffle and to those who came out to support this event. Plans are already afoot for this year’s quiz night so be sure to mark your 2017 calendar and stay abreast of current affairs.
