Bride Rovers GAA Club Notes

27 September, 2016

Under 16 Footballers in County Final.

Following their recent 2 11 to 0  11 win over Passage our under 16 football team have qualified for the Final of the Cork County Championship . This will be our first ever final at this level of competition. We played passage earlier in the summer in the Rebel Og League and on that particular night we were defeated. In the championship tie last week at the Whites Cross grounds we came out on top by a margin of six points having beaten Bishopstown earlier. Our opponents in the Final will be Aghinagh from Mid Cork. The Aghinagh side have had impressive victories over Kiltha Og and Aghada in their earlier games. At the time of writing the game has been provisionally fixed for the coming Saturday October the 1st but the time and venue had not been finalised. Good luck to all involved . Best wishes also the  girls under 12 team who face Bishopstown in their County Final on Saturday next also.

The four numbers drawn on last Tuesday Sept the 20th  were 2,13,21 and 23 and there was no winner of the €4600 Jackpot. The winners of the five €30 lucky dips were

The 25th Cork GAA CLUBS members draw was launched recently by the GAA President at Bishopstown GAA Club.  The Draw has three main aims -

1  Investment in games development and coaching

2  Risk free funding for clubs

3. Capital projects support

Tickets cost €100 per annum with a guaranteed 45% contribution to the draw members club rising to 58% on agreed target achievement. So for every ticket the Bride Rovers Club sells a minimum of €45 comes straight back into our funds

Since its inception in 1992 communities all over Cork County and City have benefited by more than €19 million in funding their local club developments. Amongst the projects which the Members Draw Income has supported are; Dressing Room and Pavilion development, All weather pitch development, Floodlighting pitches, and the purchase of additional land for other facilities.

The income also helps to finance the Club's playing activities for the year. This year the Bride Rovers Club is hoping to increase the numbers we have in this Draw. The Prizes are magnificent and include cars, holidays, vouchers and huge cash prizes. The cost of €100 can be paid in one sum or half yearly and also by Direct Bank Debit and/or standing order. If you are interested in joining please contact any Club Member. The September and October draws take place on Friday October the 28th.

Junior C Hurling Semi Final.

Our East Cork Junior C Hurling championship semi final v Sarsfields is fixed for Saturday week October the 6th but no venue has been confirmed for the fixture.

On Saturday evening last we hosted Kildorrery and Eire Og in the Co Quarter final of the County Intermediate Hurling championship. Kildorrery won and go on to face Glen Rovers in the semi final with three East Cork teams Dungourney, Aghada and FR O Neills battling it out on the other side of the Draw. Thanks to all who helped with the Match arrangements on the day.

We have now exceeded the grand total of 2000 followers on Twitter so well done to everyone who follows the activities of Bride Rovers in this way.

Best wishes  to Fermoy in the PIHC Semi final replay  v Cloyne in Pairc Ui Rinn on Friday  evening next.
