Juvenile Round Up

Minor

Congratulations to our minor hurlers who defeated Carrig na bhFear 1-16 vs 0-12 in the semi-final of the East Region B hurling championship last Wed. After an even first half, the lads pushed on in the second half to pull away from Carrig, who battled right to the final whistle. The lads now play Watergrasshill in the Final which is fixed for on Thurs 8th Sep at 6:45 PM in Castlelyons.

U14 & U15 County Finals

The U14 County Final planned for last weekend versus Keale Gaels was postponed. The details on the revised fixture are still pending. The U15s play Aghabullogue in the County A grade decider on Tues, 6th Sept in Mayfield at 18:30. Best of luck to the lads.

Roanmore Tournament

For the past 2 years, our U8 and U9 teams have competed in the Roanmore inter county hurling blitz with teams from Munster and Leinster represented. It is organised by the Roanmore Juvenile GAA Club, located in Waterford City who have run this Hurling Blitz for past 20 years in aid of various charities. Due to Waterford’s involvement in the U21 All-Ireland Hurling Final, the event has been postponed by Roanmore to Saturday 17th Sept. Our U8s will attend, but as the revised date clashes with our own plans for a local U9 and U10 tournament on the same date, our U9s will not be attending.

Junior Round Up

Our Junior C hurlers were defeated by a stronger Killeagh outfit on a scoreline of 0-09 v 2-05 in the East Cork Championship on Saturday night. In truth, it was always going to be an uphill task after losing some many players to the first team over the course of the summer. The Junior footballer’s involvement in the county league ended on a disappointing note after a heavy defeat to Knocknagree on Fri evening. However, the Junior hurlers sit on top of the County League and are well placed to compete in a league play-off.

Cash for Clobber

Final reminder of the Cash for Clobber drop off on Sept 7th; 7-8 pm in GAA grounds. All clean clothing, bags, hat, scarf, curtains, bed linen will be accepted. No Duvets and Pillows. All money goes towards our new building fund. We thank you in advance for your continued support
