Juvenile Round Up

The minor hurlers had a fine league win over Bishopstown and now prepare to play Carrig na bhFear in the last 8 of the East Region B hurling championship.

The U16 footballers advanced to the final 8 of the East Region football championship after defeating Lee Gaels on Monday night on a score line of 7-11 to 1-06. Next up, the lads play the winners of Grenagh vs Castlelyons.

The U14s footballers progressed to the semi-final of the East Region championship with two excellent wins in the past week. Lee Gaels was the opposition on Tues night in the first round. The lads prepared for this game without 3 key players, Mark, Isaak and Luke. This was a very even contest that finished all square when the final whistle was blown. Lisgoold had the better of the exchanges in extra-time and finished the game with 4 points to spare. This set up a quarter-final encounter with Cill na Martra 2 nights later. This was a much different match with Lisgoold in control at all stages and finishing comfortably enough in the end to set up a semi-final versus the winners of St. Catherines-Shamrocks tie that is due to be played this week. Well done to all and thanks to the parents who made the mid-week journey to Cill na Martra.

After finishing their East Region A league campaign with 5 wins from 5, the U12 hurlers faced St. Catherine’s in the top 4 play-off last Saturday for a place in the league final. The lads faced a stiff breeze in the first half, and fought hard to restrict St. Catherine’s. On the resumption, St. Catherines’s were determined not to go down without a fight, but a great display of sharp-shooting from Diarmuid Healy, was instrumental in this win. At the other end, Christian Howard pulled off a number of fine saves, and Eoin Holden was dominating at centre-back, whereas further out the field, Tom Savage, Piaras Fitzpatrick, Michael Roe and Jamie Neff impressed in this win. Final score Lisgoold 2-09 vs 1-04 St. Caterine’s. We now play Killeagh Itas in the final.

Kiltha Og visited Lisgoold on Saturday for a football match. The lads played well and are going from strength to strength. Next up is a hurling blitz next Saturday in Rathcormac.

On Saturday, our U8's travelled to take part in the Monster football blitz in Killeagh. The lads are improving week on week and played 3 great games.
