Juvenile Round Up

August is an extremely busy month as all teams aim to complete league fixtures by the end of the month. Congratulations to our U15 hurlers who qualified for the U15A County Hurling Final after a well-deserved win over Ballygiblin in the semi-final last Wed. This means that we have two county hurling finals to look forward in early Sept, with the U14s set to face Keale Gaels (Millstreet/Dromtarifff) on Sept 3rd, followed by the U15 final versus Aghabullogue on Sept 6th. Best wishes to the U12 hurlers who play St. Catherines in the championship semi-final this Sat.

U15A County Hurling Championship Semi-Final.

Lisgoold 1-15 vs 1-06 Ballygiblin.

The blue and gold bandwagon headed north to face Ballygiblin in Fermoy last Wed evening with the appearance in the clubs first A grade county final at stake. Despite facing a strong wind in the first half, and the concession of a scrappy goal, the lads slowly began to get a grip on this game. Cathal Hickey’s ball carrying abilities and Rob Kinnane’s solid full back display were important factors as Lisgoold established a 0-9 to 1-04 lead by the time the short whistle was blown. On the turnaround and with the elements now in our favour, Evan’s long puck outs had the opposition defence in big trouble. Our half backs, James, Luke and Sayef were becoming dominant, and Ballygiblin found it difficult to make scores. At the other end, MOTM Cathal who was leading the charge by example, was finding the target regularly from play and frees and his second half pile driver went a long way to settling this tie. In the end, Lisgoold had a little too much for Ballygiblin on the night and they saw the game out comfortably in the end to set up that big weekend in Sept. Team: 1. E. Manning, 2. Liam Walsh, 3. R. Kinnane, 4. S. Roe, 5. J. O’Driscoll, 6. Luke Walsh, 7. S. Zaid, 8. D. O’Brien, 9. M. Hegarty (sub. D. Power), 10. C. Hickey, 11. J. Browne, 12. I. Walsh, 13. C. Hallahan, 14. D. Desmond, 15. O.
