Intermediates March onto the next round

Cork County intermediate Football Championship Round 2B v Youghal Venue Aghada

Glenville 3-10

Youghal 0-12

Three goals in the space of twelve minutes set Glenville on their way to next round of the cork intermediate Football Championship after this exciting encounter took place in the beautifully appointed Aghada GAA on the east Side of Cork.  Glenville came into this match in good form having recorded wins against St Nicks and Mitchelstown in the league with the game against Glanworth all those weeks ago a distant memory. Glenville set their mark on the game straight from the throw in with our fast passing movement off the ball and a Kevin O’Neill goal in the opening twenty second set us on our way we added a point a minute late. Having scored the first goal O’Neill was the provided for our next two Goals as we were causing havoc in the Youghal Full forward line first in the seventh minute when O’Neill shot was saved by the keeper but Brendan Maloney Pulled the trigger at the right moment for Glenville second goal it was then the turn of Dilian O’Donovan to get his name on the score sheet once again O’Neill was the provide. The last time we scored three goals in a championship match was back so many years ago it’s one of those moments where we would need to get out our history books.  Holing a ten point lead after twelve minute you would expect the opposition to sit back but to Youghal concern they rallied the troupes and came forward   in waves of attacks as they hit over a string of unanswered points to leave the scores at 3-1 to 0-7 with half time approaching. Glenville managed to stead the ship as points from O’Neill and Paudie Cahill helped us run to a 3-4 to 0-9 half time lead. We came out all guns blazing in the second half as we continued to cause havoc in the Youghal Full Forward line and points from O’Neill, Cahill, Dylan Mc Carthy and Kieran Coakley put us into a commanding lead. Youghal we always dangerous going forward but cause little treat on front of goal in the end we ran out seven point winners.  The next stage of the championship will take place in early July.

Under 13 Unbeaten Streak comes to an end

After a magnificent start to the league campaign back in April our under 13 winning streak came to an abrupt end at the hand of Kilmurry on the final league game. With the sun shining brightly and not a drop of rain to be seen the eighteen talented players of Glenville took to the pitch for their final League Game of the Season. Both teams played out a great game of football with the victory going to Kilmurry by two points on a score line of 3-9 to 3-11. We still qualify for the league Final so there will be silver wear up for grabs the next time we take to the pitch our opposition will be confirmed at a later stage.

Under 10 Football Dromtarife Tournament Finals

Well done to our U10s who qualified to take part in Final Day of the Brian Cronin Dromtarife U10 Tournament. Whilst they didn't qualify for the final, the boys played great football, fought valiantly and worked hard throughout their three games. We saw great character, skill and behavior in our boys - a tribute to the boys, their parents and coaches. This is a team with a great future who will undoubtedly bring success to our club - they deserve huge credit for such a small squad with great skill and determination. Thanks to the parents who supported the team throughout the Dromtarife Tournament. Coaches on the day were Shane O'Regan, Richie Cahill and Noel Cahill.

The under 10 Football Team with their Mentor Shane O’Regan.
