Intermediate Hurling;

As they say “tus maith leath na hoibre” and this was certainly the case in our Intermediate hurling league game v Meelin on Thursday night last.

Straight from the throw in Diarmuid O’Sullivan breached the Meelin defence for a goal and this was followed with majors from Colm O’Sullivan and Keith Dennehy over the next 10 minutes to put us in control of a game that would prove to be our first league victory of the year.

Despite lining out without 5 of our championship team the replacements certainly laid down markers and put their hands up for inclusion in the next round.Meelin came into the game somewhat after the shock of the first 10 minutes but the majority of their scores were coming from placed balls and with the team moving well we added some fine points to leave us ahead 3.11 to 8 points at the short whistle.

The second half began like the first and an excellent Diarmuid O’Sullivan goal put paid to any chance of complacency or of a Meelin comeback. We were on top all over the field and two further goals from Paudie O’Sullivan and the hard working Ciaran Mullins put the gloss on a very good performance that gives the management team a lot of food for thought ahead of the next championship game v Fermoy.The full time score read Cloyne 6.20 Meelin 16 pts.

Junior Hurling League;

On Wednesday night we took on Carrigtohill at home in our 4th league game of the year.

The first 25 minutes of the game were very competitive with some excellent point scoring from both sides but the visitors took control of the game in the minutes leading up to half time to retire at half time with a healthy 2.14 to 8 point lead.

The introduction of fresh blood at half time and an improvement in attitude and aptitude we gradually clawed our way back into the game helped in the main by two goals from Brian Walsh.

A breakaway goal from Carrigtohill brought the curtain down on a very high scoring and entertaining game which was to be our first defeat in this year’s league campaign losing 3.21 to 2.17.
