Killeagh-Ita’s Juvenile News

Fé 12 Eastern A Football League Carrigtwohill 3-3, Killeagh-Ita’s 2-6

This was a cracking game of football from first whistle to last, played on a sunny Monday evening in Carrigtwohill. A first half score-fest saw both sides get excellent goals, while the second half saw both team add just one point each, yet the excitement never dipped. Carrig began at a frenetic pace, with three goals in five minutes, before our full back line of Dylan McCarthy, Conor Meade and Tommy Morrison took control and locked up! David Buckley had a storming first half, while Daniel Walsh was excellent in kicking three frees from the ground. In the corner Eric Millerick worked really well, and was rewarded with a goal on 12 minutes, while Evan Daly, Diarmuid Buckley and Danny Fitzgerald battled well throughout. Man of the match for Killeagh-Ita’s was surely Ben Budds who was unbeatable at centre-back in the second half, reading the game excellently, catching superbly, and distributing very effectively. A fair result when Pa Beausang’s final whistle blew.

Team: Colm Leahy, Dylan McCarthy, Conor Meade, Tommy Morrison, Evan Daly, Ben Budds, Ben Fogarty, Rory Motherway, Callum Martin White, Diarmuid Buckley, Danny Fitzgerald, Daniel Walsh, Eric Millerick, David Buckley, Ciaran Brennan.

Fé 12 Eastern A Hurling League Killeagh-Ita’s 5-8, Donoughmore 2-2

An interesting game of hurling which was beneficial to both sides was played in Páirc Uí Chinnéíde on Saturday last. Donoughmore came with lots of enthusiasm and worked hard from first minute to last, but our boys had a bit more skill and scoring power. Rory Motherway opened the scoring with a goal after 2 minutes, and Daniel Walsh added a second soon after. A long scoreless period followed with both defences on top, with Conor Meade, Ben Fogarty, Callum Martin White and Ben Budds busy for our team. Rory and Ciaran Brennan added nice points before half time to add to our advantage. The second half was very competitive with Donoughmore scoring 2-2, while our management team, Declan and Richie, experimented with positional changes throughout the team. Daniel Walsh scored three excellent points and Ciaran added another, while Ben and Callum scored a goal each. Well done boys!

Team: Pierse Geary, Tommy Morrison, Conor Meade, Ben Fogarty, Ben Budds, Callum Martin White, Rory Motherway, David Buckley, Darragh O’Leary, Daniel Walsh, Danny Fitzgerald, Ciaran Brennan, Eric Millerick, Daniel Griffin.

Fé 13 Premier 2 Hurling League Youghal 8-8, Killeagh-Ita’s 1-1

Like Larry Gogan’s Just-A-Minute Quiz, sometimes, they just don’t suit you! This was the case on a wet Friday evening at Magner’s Hill in Youghal, where an outstanding Youghal team easily brushed aside our lighter team, scoring freely throughout.  Better luck next time, boys – not every team will be at Youghal’s level.

Team: Ben Budds, Rory Motherway, Jamie Fogarty, Ben Fogarty, Aaron Fitzgibbon, George Walsh, Rory Lynch, Colm Treacy, Evan Lane, David Buckley, Eoin Brenner, Daniel Walsh, Colm Landers, Conor Meade, Callum Martin White.
