Intermediate Hurling League;

The Intermediate hurlers continued their preparations for the upcoming championship game v Kanturk when they travelled to play Kilworth on Wednesday night last.

We conceded two relatively soft goals in the first half to leave us 2.06 to 8 pts behind at the short whistle. An improved performance in the second half coupled with a Colm Sullivan goal saw us draw level with 5 minutes remaining. Kilworth added a pointed free to pull ahead again and try as we might in the remaining minutes we couldn’t find an equalizer and lost out by the minimum 2.11 to 1.13.

Despite the loss it was an improved performance on our last league fixture and we rue a host of missed chances from play and frees that could have altered the result.

Junior Hurling League;

The Junior hurlers(Div 2) had a busy week with two league fixtures, first up was an away game against Youghal on Thursday night.On a perfect night for hurling we were slow out of the blocks and found ourselves 7 points to 2 behind after 15 minutes, a Philip Considine goal having been set up by Brian Walsh kick started our recovery as we led 1.09 to 10pts at half time.

Our recovery continued into the second half as we picked off some excellent points and when Philip returned the compliment for Brian to goal we were 6 points to the good and looking comfortable. Youghal to their credit came back strongly with some excellent points of their own but couldn’t breach our excellent defense for the all important goal as we held on to win 2.17 to 20pts.

On Sunday night we welcomed Watergrasshill to Cloyne for the teams second league game in 4 days. We were understandably slow to settle as a lot of the team had trained in the morning but in a tight affair we finished the half 4 points to the good 10pts to 6.

A goaled free from Watergrasshill kept them in touch in the second half but we scored some excellent points to win out 19pts to 1,12 to register our 3rd win from 3 games in the division.
