First Round defeat for intermediate’s

Cork County Intermediate A Football Championship Round 1 V Glanworth Venue Rathcormac

Glenville 1-9

Glanworth 1-14

Our intermediate Footballers suffered a 1st round defeat at the hand of a strong Glanworth side when this intermediate Football Championship match was played last Sunday. This was the first time that the clubs have faced each other in the championship with Glanworth beating Glenville earlier on in the league back in February. From the throw in it was the men from the Avondhu division to register the opening Five points. We began to find our form by the fifteen minute mark and Points from Ben Halbert and Kevin O’Neill reduced the deficit to three points but this would be closest we ever get to Glanworth. We were outscored by three points to one in the final few minutes and by the short whistle it was 0-8 to 0-3. A Blistering start to second half saw Glanworth get in for a goal in the opening twenty second that was Followed by a point a minute later. We were much improved in the second half but in the end we can out on the wrong side of the Tie and by the full time whistle sounded Glanworth we well deserved of their Five Point win. We will now face Youghal or Rockchaple in round 2 of the Championship.
