Imokilly Senior Hurling Team News

Imokilly will take on Thurles Sarsfields in Thurles on Sunday 20th March with an 11.30am throw in, Cork take on Tipperary in the Senior Hurling league that day so you can make it a day out by going to both games. With these games on the calendar it will give everyone a chance to go along and support Imokilly in action. You know the date so there is no excuse.

Each week we hope to introduce you to one of the members of the Imokilly Panel so this week we introduce Nial Motherway

This weeks Player Profile

Name: Niall Motherway

Height: 5ft 8

weight: 72 kg

DOB: 8/12/1994

Current Job/College: Currently in 3rd year Commerce in UCC

Favourite Position: I'll say midfield/half forward, even though I'm spending most of my time in the half back line these days!

Highlights: An easy one-the junior A county final replay win over Cloughduv last October.

Greatest GAA Players: Joe Deane was a favourite of mine growing up. Henry Shefflin and JJ Delaney in their prime. Nowadays, it’s hard to look past Richie Hogan.

Most important skill in the game: First touch/speed of strike.

People you would most like to meet: Lionel Messi, Dwayne Johnson.

If you could change anything in hurling what would it be: 2 points for scoring a sideline cut

Best Hurling Memory: Even though Cork lost, the 2004 Munster final vs Waterford stands out. 2013 all Ireland finals as well, atmosphere both days was something else.

Favourite possession: My iPhone I suppose, like an extension of my arm at this stage.

Favourite sport other than hurling: Gaelic Football, soccer as well.

In 10 years time you would like to be?: Healthy, good job, after seeing a bit more  of the world and hopefully still playing hurling.

Next week we will feature another of our Imokilly Senior Panel members so keep an eye out for that.
