Imokilly Senior Hurling Team News

Last Sunday saw the first challenge game of the year for Imokilly who traveled to Thurles to take on Thurles Sarsfields in a friendly game before the Senior clash between Cork  & Tipperary game that same day in Semple Stadium.

Before we start we must say “A big thank you to Thurles Sarsfields for taking care of us on the day with tea, sandwiches and hot snacks after the game”.

Well done to all involved with Imokilly who traveled on the day for this very worthwhile exercise. It gave our management team a chance to see lads in action for the first time this year as a unit and to try a few new players in different positions. Many of the lads did well but sadly were facing a strong Thurles Sarsfields team who ran out winners in the end. However as important as a win is, the game itself was far more important. Important to get these players used to playing alongside each other.

Its not easy for a player to be playing one way with his club and to be suddenly thrown into a whole new system or position for that matter on the day. These lads are all good hurlers strong, athletic, skillful, determined fit players and the lads all worked hard on the day and by the second half of the game were beginning to play a lot better and stronger. Here is the team who lined out for the day and all players got a run on the day. We were missing a few players on the day but those present did give a good account of themselves.
