Under 21 Progress to the semi Final

East Cork under 21 B Football Championship Quarter Final v Erin’s Own Thursday March 10th Venue Fouhy Park

Glenville 3-11

Erin’s own 3-7

It doesn’t get better than this for our under 21 Footballers as they have now advanced to the East Cork Semi Final where we set up a meeting with Fa O’Neill’s next weekend. On a cold but calm afternoon in Fouhy Park we welcomed Erin’s own in this latest round of the championship at stake a place in the semi-final. Both teams had very comfortable wins in their first round ties the previous week. Glenville decided to play with the wind in the first half and we got off to a perfect start running into a 1-3 to 0-1 lead after 10 Minutes. We were always in full control of the ball as our complete dominance around the midfield area was working well Kevin O’Neill had to be at his very best In the centre of the park as he won a lot of the possession. Erin’s own were always dangerous going forward and by the 20 minute mark they had their second point on the score board from the resulting kick out we work the ball up to PJ Denhenny who broke past the entire Erin’s own deference at lightning speed buried the ball in the back of the next for our second goal and that was not the end of it a minute later Kevin O’Neill got in for our third goal and by that stage we were well in front. However this frantic pace was too much for Glenville to maintain as we lost concentration in our defence and let Erin’s own in for a goal. Captain Darragh O’Callaghan was leading by example at left half forward and his superb point from 30 yards out kept the score board ticking over there was further points from Dilan O’Donovan and Dylan Mc Carthy. Erin’s own responded well in the final few minutes as they hit over the last three points to leave the scores at 3-7 to 1-5 at the interval. The second half was a much tighter affair as Erin’s Own clawed their way back but they were unable to bridge our defence for that all important goal which would have reduced the margin to a point in the end we ran out four point winners on a score line of 3-11 to 3-7 well done lads on a great Win we will now face Fa O’Neill’s in the semi-final I can assure you that this game will be toughest of them all.
