Motorview 4 Mile Road Race:

We had our inaugural four mile road race on Sunday March 13th. It was kindly sponsored by main Kia dealer Motorview Motors and what a successful day it turned out to be. While a lot of hard work had been carried out before Sunday it still required a mammoth effort to see the event through to a success. From early Sunday morning there was a hive of activity at the club grounds with the many volunteers calmly going about their tasks to ensure the day ran smoothly for everybody. Stewarding of the race and at the club grounds was well thought out and implemented to the plan which gave way to minimum hardship for the many, many visitors who came to our club grounds.  Registration opened from 9am and the walkers started at 9.30am. The main road race got underway at 11.00am and finished at the club grounds. A total of 246 runners and 80 walkers took to the course on the day.  The general consensus from the participants was that it was a very enjoyable course to run, it was well organised and marshalled and the parking, changing and refreshment facilities that were laid on were top class. Our chairman, Mr Padraig McGrath said that on behalf of the club, he owed a huge debt of gratitude to the many people who gave their time and efforts to ensure the day was a brilliant success for both the GAA club and the community. He also paid huge thanks to Youghal AC for all their help and expertise in organising the event for our club. Full results and photos of the day are up on our website  and Facebook pages and also on Running in Cork, Ireland blog.

Killeagh-Ita’s

Our U16 footballers played their second league game of the season in Carrignavar on Saturday March 5th and came away with their second league win in seven days. It was a tough encounter with Carrignavar where conditions underfoot were testing and a strong breeze blowing down the pitch added to the test. Our lads dug in from the off and although they trailed at half time on a score of 3-03 to 1-04 they never gave up and were duly rewarded for their gallant effort. The back line were very strong and even though they shipped three first half goals they kept their heads up and thwarted their opponents in the second half where Carrignavar failed to score. The midfield and half forwards worked tirelessly for the duration and tracked back time and again to help the back line and also to launch attacks. The forwards also worked very hard and although a couple of efforts failed to hit the target they hit a total of eleven scores over the game. Well done to the subs who came on as they stepped up to the plate immediately to maintain the pressure on their opponents. Thanks to all the parents who took the time to bring the lads to the game and got behind them and encouraged them during the game. Well done all round. The final score was Carrignavar 3-03 Killeagh-Ita’s 2-09.
