Junior and U21 Fixtures

Junior A Football Championship

Lisgoold will clash with near neighbours St. Catherine’s in the preliminary round of the JAFC on Friday 18th Mar, 7:30 PM Both sides have not played a lot of football and will benefit from playing in this preliminary fixture with the losing side due to enter the first round proper. At the time of writing, the venue remains to be fixed, so please stay close to the club social media channels. Your support on the night will be much appreciated.

Junior 1 Football League

Fouhy Park on a cold March night might not be everyone’s idea of fun, but after a couple of postponed fixtures, the lads were eager to get the football league campaign underway away to Glenville on Tues, 8th Mar. Despite it being our first game of the year, Lisgoold started well with midfield pairing Cathal Cashman and Brendan Flynn getting an early grip on the game. We took a half time lead, 0-05 to 0-03, but on resumption Glenville, who had already won both of their league games, began to exert control on the game and their extra sharpness proved to be the difference on the night. Despite excellent defensive performances from Eoin O’Sullivan, Caomhan O’Shea and Kieran Cashman, the final score was Glenville 0-10 0-06 Lisgoold. With championship around the corner, it was great to finally get some meaningful action. Congratulations to Fionn on making his junior debut. The one downside was a hand injury to Pa, who will be out for a few weeks and we wish him a speedy recovery. The team lined out as follows: Ciaran Cronin, Kevin O’Keeffe, Eoin O’Sullivan, Caomhan O’Shea, Kieran Cashman, John McCarthy, Peter Leahy, Cathal Cashman, Brendan Flynn, Pa O’Mahony, Kieran Barry, Ciaran O’Shea, John Cashman, Charles Smart, and Noel Connery. Subs used: Bill Whelan, Fionn Morey.

U21 B Football Championship

With both teams receiving a bye into the Quarter Finals, Lisgoold and St. Colemans faced each other in the Quarter Finals of the U21 B Championship in Cloyne on Sat, 12th Mar. St. Colemans had the better of this encounter and ran out comfortable winners on the day. The squad: Rob Williams, Donncha Moynihan, Kevin O Keeffe, Sean Whelan, Fergal Roche, Ciaran O Shea, Cian Healy, Kieran Cashman, Brendan O Flynn, Caomhan O Shea, Darragh Fleming, Liam Stack, Fionn Morey, Bill Whelan, Liam O Shea, Caolan O Brien, Sean Nagle, Rian Hogan, Eoghan Young, Jack Ryan, James Murphy, Daire Fitzgerald and Shane Collins

Congrats to John Cronin

A proud night for the club as John Cronin was selected at centre-field for Cork vs Kilkenny  in the Allianz League match on Sat, 12th Mar. Cork management was looking for a response after a series of uninspiring games. Full blooded commitment is sometime we come to expect from Johnsie and he put in a typically industrious performance and contributed significantly to an improved Cork performance on the night.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Juvenile club is leading out the local parade this year. Please turn out to show your support on the day.

Parents & families are very welcome to travel on the day also and parking will be available at the Davin End Car Park. This should be a fantastic experience for the lads and we hope they thoroughly enjoy it.
