Juvenile Club Fixtures

U14 Hurling Challenge

Our U14 hurlers, kicked off our 2016 season with a challenge match against Erin Own on Sat 27th Feb. Pitches as everyone is aware are very difficult to get at the moment, so thanks to Erin’s Own for arranging the use of the pitch at Glanmire Community College. The Lisgoold boys were more than eager to get into action in their first match of 2016 in club colours, although injury and ailments took their toll on the panel, we still got our 15 into action. The early season training in the astro pitch and ball alley  paid dividends and we were moving the ball with purpose right from the off and it was great to see the skills practiced by the lads over the last number of weeks put into practice on the field of play. Opportunity was taken to try lads in different positions as the game progressed, with a view to the season ahead. The result went our way on the day, but it was more important to get out onto the pitch and get the 2016 season under way.

U18C East Region Football League

Donoughmore 4-12 vs 4-8 Lisgoold

Our minor footballers travelled north to Donoughmore on Sun 6th Mar for the first of 8 games in the East Region football league. In difficult conditions, credit must be given to both sides for a high scoring and entertaining encounter. After getting off to a slow start, the lads trailed 3-1 to 1-1 after 15 mins, but Robbie Kinnane’s super solo run from the half way line and cool finish into top corner kept Lisgoold in the game. Trailing 4-5 to 2-3 at half-time, a few astute positional changes were made at the break. On the restart Lisgoold began to get to grips on the game, dominating possession and chipping away at the deficit. Caolan O’Brien and Kieran Cashman scored second half goals, but ultimately some wayward shooting meant that we ended on the wrong side of the final scoreline. Still, a lot of positives can be taken from the game. Caolan kicked a massive 1-4 from midfield. Cian Healy’s point meant that along with Kieran and Rob, each of the half back line scored and it was great to see Shane Collins back in club colours. We wish a speedy recovery to Caolan who picked up a leg injury towards the end of the game. Next up is a home game against Courcey Rovers on the weekend of 20th Mar.

The squad in action was Evan Manning, Rob Williams, Fionn Morey, Sean Nagle, Cian Healy,

Kieran Cashman, Robbie Kinnane, Caolan O Brien, Liam Stack, Sean Whelan, Declan O Brien, Emmet Roche, Shane Collins and Liam O Shea.
