Victory Presentation a huge success

The Glenville GAA club held their victory medal presentation last Friday night 19th in Kades. In front of a crowd of over sixty people in the function room in Kades. The 2015 season was a very successful year for our juvenile and adult teams. Last year the under 10 Football panel under the carefully watch of manager Coleman O’Driscoll were crowned winners of the Dromtarife tournament and they will be a force to reckon with again this year. For the time in over 9 years the under 16 Footballers were crowned East Cork Championship after a thrilling final against Kilmurry the lads did the club very proud and were very unlucky to be beaten by Urhan in the county semi-final I can guarantee you these lads will be in top form this year as we seek to win more silver wear in the coming months. The under 14 footballers were winners of the Padraigh Kelleher Memorial Tournament in which that was in memory of a person who contribution to the club was outstanding it was great for us to be the first winners of the tournament and we hope to capture more silver wear also.  The Junior A and B Footballers completed the league double by calming the Division 2 and 3 League Titles and that means we have gained promotion to Division 1 for the fourth coming season. On the night under the new appointment of club Chairman John Fenton it was great to see a big turn out to mark a great occasion for the club. John congratulated those who were receiving medal and that he was looking forward to the season a head and that he hopes there will be loads of silver wear in the club by the end of the year. First up to receive their medals were the under 10 footballers each player received a medal that was presented to them by the guest star on the night he scored 9 points in the all-Ireland final back in 2010 it was the one and only Daniel Golding. Next up were the under 14 Footballers all players received medals by Daniel Golding our under 16 Footballers were next to take to the stage there was also  a special award handed out for playing for the cork under 16 Footballers. Finally our Junior Footballers were last up to receive their medals over all it was a great night and well done to everyone who received medals on the night.

Turning now to action on the playing field last Friday Night our under 15 Footballers welcomed Cobh for their first game of the season. Both Teams played out a great game but on the night the opposition were the much stronger side and ran out winners 6-4 to 2-7. The intermediate footballers were beaten by a point by Rockchaple in their first match of the year.
Under 21 Football Championship this weekend
This Fourth coming Saturday afternoon will see our under 21 renew acquaintances with Glenabower Rovers in the first round of the Championship this match was due to take place last weekend but was re fixed for this Saturday. We are in for a great game of football a real treat in store for you all please supports the lads.
Under 14 football league
The under 14 Footballers will kick start their season this weekend with an away match against Gabriel Rangers. This has been planned for a day trip also with the bus leaving Sunday morning at 9:20 at the top of the village also the new set of under 14 jersey will be presented on day. These lads have put so much commitment into the club these last few years and it will be great for these bunch of players to get support at the match on Sunday. We may be a small club but we have a big heart with a never say die attitude and that they black and amber jersey is always worn with pride. We are hoping to get more players to join the club over the coming years.
