Aghada Juvenile GAA Report:

Scor na bPaiste:

The power might have failed in Lisgoold Community Hall on Friday Night for the first quarter final of Scor na bPaiste, but the remaining schools competed on Saturday and Sunday. Each year the standard is extremely high in all categories. Thanks to the East Cork Scor Committee and all teaching staff for promoting our culture through drama-dance agus ceoil. Congratulations to all Schools from Aghada Parish who advanced to the semi-final which will be held on the last week-end in February.

Aghada Senior GAA Social/80s Disco:

On Saturday 6th of February Supporters, Players and Mentors travelled from as far away as Sligo to celebrate “The Gathering of the Green/White Supporters Club” in the beautiful setting of Garryvoe Hotel. Paul Kilbane was a truly professional MC as he used his wit to entertain the large crowd. (Hoping that the chandeliers were still in place at the end of evening with the extreme 80s dance routine of PAUL and John T). Eddie Powell opened the evening in soft tone with the song “SO GLAD TO SEE YOU”. Club Chairman Pat O’ Connell welcomed everyone and gave a brief update on the success of the Aghada Club. Richard Good (Club Secretary) made the following presentations.

The overall “Hurler of the Year Award” went to William Leahy for his achievements and dedication to Aghada Club. Every best wish to William as he wears the Red/White jersey on the Cork Senior Panel for 2016. The next presentation was “The Footballer of the Year Award” and this went to an extremely talented dual young player - Edward Leahy (who is often compared to a stone wall as forwards find it impossible to pass him). Every best wish to Edward and Aaron Berry as they represent Aghada on the Cork Minor Football panel for 2016. “The U21 Player Award” went a very encouraging and talented player Kane Looney, who captained the Aghada U21A East Cork Football Winning Team, and is an inspiration to all. Thanks to Shane Farmer who provided the 80’s disco music which was enjoyed by all. A very special word of thanks to Gill Looney, Colm O’Brien and Cian Fleming for organising such a brilliant evening. Now that we have completed our social events for this season, it is now back to the playing field and let the games begin.
