Castlemartyr Notes

CASTLEMARTYR CONTINUE ON WINNING WAYS
CASTLEMARTYR....................3-13

BRIDE ROVERS......................2-11

Castlemartyr kept their recent run of victories going with a win over Bride Rovers in Rathcormack on Saturday evening. It was a patchy performance however and the team will have to raise their game considerably from this if they are to progress in the county series.

While the game was far from championship intensity there was good performances from a number of players. Adrian Bowens drove Castlemartyr from wing back while up front Evan O’Keeffe was sharp and picked off some good scores. Mark Bowens came off the bench to score two goals with the other goal coming from a long ball from Adrian Bowens after the Bride Rovers goalkeeper failed to deal with it. Substitute Chris Moran also made a good impact winning some good ball and picking off a nice point.

Team: J Smiddy, Barra O’Tuama, R O’Donovan, E Clifford, O Smiddy, B Smiddy, A Bowens, P Horgan, Brian Lawton, Barry Lawton, S Hennessy, D Bowens, Brian O’Tuama, E O’Keeffe, C Bowens . Subs used: M Bowens, D McAuliffe, C Moran
SYMPATHIES

The club lost another stalwart during the week, when the death occurred of Donie O Keeffe after a long illness. Our sympathies go out to his wife and children and family and especially his brother David. At least he got to see the Jamesy Kelleher in the hands of his nephew Evan when he visited him in hospital during his last few days .May he rest in peace. An obituary to Donie will follow next week.
