Under 21 Championship fixed for the 20th of February 1st 2016

Yes it is that time of year where the championship season is only beginning and it won’t be long coming with the first round of the under 21 championship fixed for February 20th against Glenabower.

These teams last meet two years ago in the semi-final of the championship on that occasion Glenville came out victorious on a score line of 1-8 to 3-8 and we went on to  beat Carrigtwohill in the final. Both these teams are very evenly matched and I have no dough that when championship day comes we will be in for a thriller.

The Junior A and B Footballers also learned their fate for this year Championship Draws. The Junior A footballers will face local rivals Castelyons in the first round it is more than likely that this match could be the game of the championship as we are in for a real cracker of a tie.

Our Junior B Footballers will face Youghal in a repeat of the first round tie from last year. Glenville were the winners that night on a score line of 4-8 to 1-13.

Intermediate Football League Begins This Coming Weekend

The First round of the Division 3 Football League will see Glenville take on Kinsale this Fourth Coming Sunday at Home.

Under 21 Dick Cahill Cup v Eire Og Friday January 29th

Venue Fouhys

Glenville 0-9

Eire OG 1-11

Our under 21 Footballers played their second game of the group stage of the Dick Cahill Cup. We Welcomed Eire OG on a Calm Friday night. Both Teams played out an even first half with the visitors leading by the narrowest of margins 0-5 to 0-4. However this gallant performance didn’t work in our favour as Eire Og ran out winners over all a great performance we are hoping to have one final game before championship.

Junior Football Challenge v St Catherine’s Saturday January 30th

Venue Ballynoe

Glenville 1-11

St Catherine’s 2-12

Our Junior Football playing season began last Saturday Night with a Challenge Match against St Catherine’s that was played in ideal conditions. Catherine’s were the much very sharper out fit in the first half and were full value of their nine point lead at the interval 2-6 to 0-3. A much more committed and industrious Glenville Team took the game to Catherine’s in the second half putting over some delightful scores. But time ran out for our lads as Catherine’s clamed a four point victory. The Junior Football League Will begin on February 20th.

Juvenile Training will continue this Wednesday from 7-8 for under 12 to under 14 and from 8-9 for under 15 to under 18 in the Glenville School Hall.

Lotto Results

There was no winner of last week’s lotto jackpot that was worth €7000. Winning Numbers on the night were 18, 20, 22 and 24. Small Cash Prize winners were Janice Murphy, Tuesday Club, Mairead Dunlea and Sean Mc Carthy. Next week’s draw will take place in Kades where the jackpot will be worth €7100.
