The Padraigh Kelleher Memorial Cup Stays in Glenville after a nail biting Final. Venue Fouhys

Glenville 2-7

Mallow 1-7

Last Tuesday night under lights in Fouhys the Padraigh Kelleher Memorial Cup final took place in which where we remember a great GAA Person who dedication in the club was incredible. So it had all came down to this the last two teams left in the competition ourselves and Mallow we had already faced mallow in the group stage of this competition five week prior to the final where on that occasion we came out with a one point win after a thriller of game. Conditions on the night were catastrophic as Glenville decided to play against the very strong breeze in the first half. Both teams played out a very even trip and tuck first half and at the end of the first thirty minutes it was 1:3 to 0:03 in the opposition favour.

Whatever was said at half time seemed to work as Glenville sprung into life fighting tooth and nail for ever ball and by the final five minutes Glenville were 2:7 to 1:7. Mallow threw everything they had at Glenville in the final minutes but the sheer determination of the Glenville full back line refused to give them an inch of the ball in the end Glenville ran out three point winners on what was a great game of football. Diana Kelleher Daughter of the late Padraigh presented the cup to Caden Horgan the winning captain. It was a great way to wrap up the season in style a very big Thank you to Paudie Cahill, Chris Heffernan, Johnny O’Connell and Cathal Maloney who helped for the management team for the year and Thanks to the Kelleher family for hosting this Competition.
