Under 11 lose out to Douglas in County League Final

U11 football semi final

Glenville 5.08 Ballincollig 4.07

Last Saturday morning our U11 footballers travelled to mallow to take on Ballincollig in the semi-final. Having qualified from a tough group and already have played our opponents, our lads knew a tough game was in store. Two 11 a side games produced a gripping finale. Both games went right down to the wire, Glenville coming out on top by a margin of 4 pts. There were excellent performances on both teams.

U11 football final

Glenville 5.08 Douglas 7.14

Douglas were our opponents in the final. Our lads again knew what was in store as we already played Douglas in an earlier round and put them to the pin of their collar in that game . Our lads again displayed excellent creative football and got fantastic scores. Our boys came up short on the final score line, but anyone who was there would have to be super proud of this young black and amber brigade. When one considers Douglas have 70 boys on the age of 11 years, it goes to show what this bunch of Glenville footballers are about. They lost absolutely nothing in defeat as they fought tooth and nail right to the final whistle. The 22 boys who played were a credit to themselves, their families and their club. Massive thanks to Colman, conor, Trevor, Declan and manager Diarmuid who are doing brilliant work with this group. The parents and followers are extremely proud of this display and no doubt we will be hearing a lot more of these lads in the years to come. Big thanks to the great support that travelled on the day, and also to martin O Regan of

Kades Kounty who fed the boys in the clubhouse afterwards. Medals were presented to the player's afterwards in the clubhouse by Liam Cahill. Well done to all. Panel.
