Glenville GAA Notes

18 August, 2015

It has been a week of mixed results in the Glenville GAA Camp this week here is a brief summary of what happened. Our minor footballers crashed out of the championship at the 3rd round stage after a tough battle against Clonakility. Our under 13footballers recorded an impressive victory against Clyda Rovers in a recent Challenge game also our under 12 were very unlucky to be beaten by two points in the last league game of the Season. Final our under 16 footballers had a three point win against Glanmire in a recent challenge match as they continued their preparation for the upcoming championship meeting against East Cork Champions Sliabh Rua. More on this week’s results to come but first here are the latest lotto results.

The Glenville GAA Club lotto jackpot has increased to €4700 as there was no winner at last week’s draw. The winning numbers on the night were 2, 18, 26 and 29. Small cash prize winners of €20 were Pearse Mc Carthy, Dilan O’Donovan, Brian Fenton and Josephine Loftus.

Rebel OG P2 Minor Football Championship Round 3 v Clonakility

Venue Bellgooly

Glenville 1-8

Clonakility 3-10

Our minor footballers exited the championship at the third round stage after a tough match against a strong Clonakility side. Conditions on the day were ideal as we decided to play against the wind in the first half which worked in our favour as we led at the interval 1-5 to 0-7. However our completed dominance in the first half didn’t work as Clonakility came forward in waves of attacks and a string of unanswered points had them up by two points. In the end the opposition were too strong for our lads as they ran our winners on a score line of 3-10 to 1-8.

Under 13 Football Challenge v Clyda Rovers

Venue Glenville

Glenville 5-13

Clyda Rovers 0-12

Our under 13 Footballers recorded an impressive victory against a dogged Clyda Rovers side when this Challenge Match was played on home soil. Conditions on the day were good as we decided to play against the soft breeze in the first half in the end we ran out comfortable winners.

Rebel OG under 12 A Football League v Midleton

Venue Midleton

Our under 12 Footballers were very unlucky to be beaten by two points in their last league game of the season when this league tie was played on away soil. On the day our lads put on a great performance all played very well.

Under 16 Football Challenge v Glanmire

Venue Glanmire

Our under 16 footballers recorded a three point over a strong and physical Glanmire side as we continued our preparation for the upcoming championship meeting against Sliabh Rua. Conditions on the day were ideal but in the end we were the stronger of the two teams as we ran out winners by three points. Up next is a meeting with the Current East Cork Championships in the first round of the champions. Sliabh Rua are not the only team to be defending their title on Monday night as our lads will be defending the County title that they won last season so it’s a battle of the champions the East cork Championship v the County Champions who will prevail? Find out in next week.
