Junior A Hurling Championship Semi-Final Dungourney 2-15 Midleton 1-12

An East Cork Final awaits after an awesome victory over Midleton in Ballynoe on Sunday evening. The pitch in great condition and weather ideal for hurling those present in Ballynoe were treated to a brilliant game. We were quick out of the blocks a long ball in to Shane Casey he rose highest caught and passed the ball out to Shane Hegarty and he popped over the opening point. Ryan Denny was on target from a free after Paudie Harney was fouled, Midleton pointed from play in response. Paudie got his name on the scoresheet splitting the posts nicely from a Kev Rohan pass. Ryan pointed another free with Midleton getting two points of their own one play and one free. Niall Motherway played a ball down the line to Paudie he looked up played a great pass to find Kev Rohan and his shot ended up in the back of the net. Ryan pointed another free and Niall Motherway got his first point of the game. Midleton pointed another free with Ryan pointing another free. Shane Hegarty split the posts with a fine score to leave it Dungourney 1-8 Midleton 0-4 at the short whistle.

The second half began with a Midleton pointed free, Shane Casey was quickest to react to the break after a Kev shot and he flicked the sliotar to the net. A Midleton point was cancelled out by a beauty of a point from Niall. Midleton got on a run and scored 1-3 without reply. Shane Hegarty settled things down pointing two frees, Midleton pointed from a free again. Shane slotted over two more frees with Niall adding another beauty from distance. Midleton scored two more points from frees with Shane Hegarty pointed a 65 to finish the game. An brilliant performance from start to finish the intensity and workrate from the lads was immense throughout. The Forwards were awesome Shane Casey causing havoc at the edge of the square, Paudie Harney awesome on his debut. Kenneth Kelleher getting through a trojan amount of work on the wing. Niall Motherway was unplayable in midfield from start to finish Midleton had no answer to him scoring some majestic points. The backs were rock solid throughout James McCarthy and James Leahy class acts in the half back line.
