St Colman’s Hurling.

St Colman’s hurlers continued their winning ways on Wednesday night last with victory over Cloughduv.While they mightn’t have reached the heights achieved in the victory over Blarney it was none the less a very creditable performance. First half goals by Josh beausang and Brian Walsh laid the foundations for the win and matching Cloughduv point for point in the second half they ran out 2.18 to 1.11 victors.

The reward for this win sets up an intriguing semi-final against near neighbours and rivals Aghada which has been fixed for Sunday 23rd August with the venue and time TBC.

U21 Hurling;

The U21 hurlers served up a very impressive performance on Saturday night last defeating a very fancied Erins Own team to reach the semi-final of this years U21 East Cork Championship.

Playing with the aid of a strong diagonal wind in the first half Cloyne were slow to settle and found ourselves a goal down 1.02 to 2 points after 8 mins both points coming from Dillon Cahill. A reshuffle of our defensive sextet solidified matters and we proceeded to dominate the game for the next 15 minutes scoring impressive points along the way. We scored the next 7 points without reply and when Brian Walsh goaled after intercepting a puck out we were in a strong 1.13 to 1.4 lead. Erins Own finished the half the stronger scoring the last 3 points before the break to leave them 6 points behind.

Erins Own opened the half’s scoring with a point from play but Stevie Beausang responded with arguably the point of the game after along run through the middle. Every time we conceded a score we had the ability to reply and we eventually broke the Erin’s Own spirit and when Conor Motherway in the Cloyne goal made an excellent save we knew we were semi-final bound on a 1.22 to 1.14 scoreline where we will meet Castlelyons.
