JB Championship Win.

JB Hurling

Castlelyons 1-26   Erins Own   2-16

After a match of high drama ,great scoring and extra time we eventually overcame Erins Own to advance to Round 3 of the Junior B Hurling championship played in Rathcormac on Sunday last. A O Regan opened our scoring with the first point of the match followed by 3 points from frees by Ml Spillane and a great point from the left side-line by N McAuliffe to keep us in touch as Erins Own threatened to pull away. In the last 5 mins of the half a great team move that started from B O Connell was finished to the net by Ml Spillane to leave Erins Own leading at half time by 1-06 to 1-05. Erins Own again started the second half strongly and built up a 3 point lead and we kept in touch with 3 pointed frees from Ml Spillane and 2 great points from C McGann. S O Sullivan made 2 great saves to deny Erins Own certain goals and when D Sexton cleared the ball out of defence to A O Regan who raced up the pitch for a great point. C O Neill and R O Regan both pointed and with time almost up Ml Spillane scored 2 points to tie up the match and send it to extra time. There was only one team in the match in extra time as Castlelyons dominated with scores from B O Donovan, Ml Spillane and B O Donovan (Dunnie), who had a superb game at centerfield, to lead by 4 points after 10 mins. C McGann, R O Regan, R Fenton and B O Donovan closed out the scoring for a great win. We now advance on to Round 3 of the championship where our next opponents will be Killeagh.
