Glenville 3.13

St Nicholas 3.03

Glenville u14s travelled to the glen field on Monday July 6th to take on St Nicks in this competition. Constant rain throughout the day cleared up just

before the game. Conditions were greasy for both sides. The first ten minutes were even possession wise with both teams playing a good fast brand of open football. Glenville were starting to penetrate the opponent’s goal and scores began to follow. Sean Desmond was a constant threat in the full forward line and scored a great goal on 11 mins.He was ably assisted by Ger Heffernan and Rob McKenna .The team began to play with authority. Our backs started to get on top. Dara was very assured in goal and outside him Cathal, Ciaran and john were winning the battles and points from Gavin Gowen, Kyle Guichard, Rob McKenna, Tim Hegarty, Sean Desmond followed, and a Rob McKenna goal on 22 mins put us in a good position at half time.2.10 to 1.02. Craig O Reilly replaced the injured Dara O Leary after half time, and did very well in goal. A brave goalie to say the least despite his tender age. The second half was a more even affair .St Nicks came more into the game and had more possession. Shane O Reilly, captain Ceadan Hogan were superb as was Steven O Toole as they kept the St Nicks forwards at bay time and time again. Tim and Dara were immense in midfield. There constant work rate was admirable. Our forwards worked very hard all through the game. Kyle, Dylan and Gavin working very hard and feed our potent inside line. Our second half scores came from Gavin Gowen, Sean Desmond, Shane O Reilly, and sub Colin O Keeffe scored a lovely point when introduced. A penalty expertly converted by Sean sealed the win at the end. St Nicks followed up with 2.02 in the second half. A good win, great football was played in that first half. Several blocks and timely interceptions were made by our defenders all through the game. Midfielders were excellent all through and the forwards worked very well as a unit going forward. Final score Glenville 3.13 St Nicks 3.04.We now play Aghbullogue in the semi-final.

Thanks to the Glenville support who roared on the team from start to finish.
