Junior B Hurling Championship Dungourney 2-10 Carrignavar 1-16

A disappointing result in the back door on Sunday morning means our second string are out of the championship. A much improved performance from last weekend but alas not enough. Carrignavar were quick out of the traps and got three early points, Shane Casey opened our account with a point from play. Carrignavar were awarded a penalty which was brilliantly saved by Willie O’Neill, Carrignavar pointing the resulting 65. Shane pointed from play followed by a Karl Kiely point again from play. Carrignavar pointed a free, Shane added two more points one from play and a free from his own 65. Carrignavar went ahead again but Colm Griffin pointed at the short whistle to send the teams in level at half time.

We got the perfect start to the second half Mike Hickey Goaling inside the first minute. A goal and three unanswered points from Carrignavar put them in front, Shane hit a pointed free. Three Carrig points came with one from Colm from play. Shane pointed another free but Carrignavar pushed on again hitting three more points. Denis Broderick pointed from play, Carrig responded with a point of their own. Shane fired a rocket from a twenty metre free to the net to bring us within three points but alas it wasn’t to be. Some good performances on the day from Willie who pulled off 4 or 5 great saves, Shane scored some fine points, Colm and Karl worked tirlessely in attack.
