Inter –County,

A very famous double was celebrated in print over the week-end with the Examiners supplement of the hurling and football wins of 1990.

A last second point from the Kerry corner back denied us what would have been another famous double over the week-end.

The hurlers were first into action on Saturday and with Conor Lehane in particular in scintillating form they blew Wexford out of the water and by half time had a commanding 14 point lead. As is always the case it’s hard to keep that level of performance up and Wexford came back into the game without ever really looking like they were going to win it.

Well done to Paudie who featured for the last 10 minutes and to the entire East Cork contingent who contributed handsomely to the win.

Next up is Limerick or Clare on Saturday next 11th July at a venue to be decided.

The much maligned Cork footballers gave an excellent performance on Sunday in almost dethroning the current Munster and All-Ireland champions in their own back yard.

The second half performance in particular was outstanding against the wind and we were denied victory due to the concession of a very dubious penalty to say the least.

The replay is fixed for Saturday 18th July again in Killarney due to the construction works at Pairc Ui Chaoimh with the time to be confirmed.

The replay of the Munster Football final on 18th July will play havoc to the local club fixtures with a round of match’s due to be played that week-end so keep an eye out locally and on social media for updates on the fixtures as they are confirmed by the board.

In case you haven’t heard we drew Carrigaline in round 4 of the PIHC,
