Thursday June 25th P2 under 14 Football League

Venue Na Piarsaigh

Na Piarsaigh 2-4

Glenville 8-15

Last Thursday night saw our under 14 footballers in action in the latest round of the premier 2 league. Conditions on the night were ideal our lads decided to play with the breeze in the first half but it was the home side that would register the opening score in the first minute. From that moment on Glenville took complete control of the game winning a lot of ball in the midfield area

and we held a 5-6 to 0-2 lead at the interval a lead that we would not surrender. Whatever team manager Paudi Cahill said at half team seemed to work as Glenville’s complete dominance continued in the second half. Rob Mc Kenna was on fire in his best position at full forward as he scored a personal tally of 4-1. There were some great scores in the second half but the best has to go to super sub Colin O’Keeffe who came off the bench and with his first touch chipped the ball over the Na Piarsaigh keeper from 20 yards to score a super goal now that’s what you call an impact sub. Over all it was a magnificent performance by Glenville as we ran our comfortable winners in the end on a score line of 8-15 to 2-4. Up next for the under 14 is St Nick’s in the shield competition of the premier 2 championship which is fixed for Monday July 6th Time and Venue TBC.

Sunday June 28th P2 Minor Football Challenge

Venue Glenville

Last Sunday morning saw Glenville’s minor footballers back in action after their 13 week break due to the Leaving Cert exams. We welcomed a strong valley rover’s side on home soil. Conditions on the morning were perfect both teams played out a good game of football but our opposition were too strong for our lads as they ran out comfortable winners in the end.
