U15 Hurling Championship

Aghada U15 hurlers had a brilliant win over Youghal in youghal on Wednesday evening. A game full of commitment and excellent hurling in which Aghada started slowly and at one stage in the first half were 8 points behind. But this team DID NOT GIVE UP and in a NEVER SAY DIE attitude proceeded to claw their way back into the game , being 6 points down at half time due to goals from Mark Stafford and Jamie O Hanlon and points from Mark McCarthy, Conor O'Keeffe, Max Ahern, Craig Hogan , Rory O'Connell , Adam O'Brien and Oisin Counihan. The second half started in the same vein with Aghada picking off some brilliant scores, goals from Jamie O Hanlon and Rory O Connell , were vital, eventually drawing level and then going one point ahead with 5 minutes to go. Youghal equalised but Aghada had the bit between their teeth and when Conor O keeffe was fouled 65m out it was up too Craig Hogan to keep a cool head and slot the ball between the posts and win the game.

But this win would not have been possible without an outstanding defence in which Ronan O'Connell in goal and a full back line of Luke Foley, Jack Norris, Cian Cotter and Liam Curley were outstanding . The Aghada half back line of Diarmuid Phelan, Dylan Buckley and Rory Slye

were rocks in defence and a springboard for many attacks. This was a great team/panel performance

bearing in mind that the same youghal team beat us well U14 last year. Well done to all.
