Castlelyons GAA Notes

26 June, 2015

With J B Hurling championship V Ballinacurra down for decision on this Saturday night we played Watergrasshill in a challenge match last Tuesday night in Castlelyons. Fielding a very under strength team and with just 15 players due to exams , injuries and holidays Watergrasshill ran out easy winners on the night.Well done to everyone that played and it was great to see Ciaran McGann play his first match since his cruciate injury last summer. We play our last match before championship this Tuesday night when we play Araglen in Castlelyons and with exams finished and hopefully most of the injuries cleared up we will have a strong panel  available.

Team : D Kenny, A Henley, M Murphy, D Beausang, S Bargery, C O Neill, L Moroney, B O Donovan, C McGann, M Spillane, C Cotter, B O Donovan, A O Regan, S O Sullivan, M J Dorgan,

PI Hurling
We played a challenge match against Milford on Friday night in Castlelyons. We were missing some regulars but this in turn gave game time to all the panel and allowed management the opportunity to see everyone in action. This turned out to be a good match with Castlelyons being the stronger and leading all the way through. We went in at half time leading by 4 points. The second half was a copy of the first with Castlelyons again the stronger and the highlight of this half being 2 goals scored by Philip Mahon and Brian O Donovan. We finished strongly and won on a score of  2-19 to 0-20 after a fine match.

The draw for Round 4 of the PIH Championship will take place next week and until then it is difficult for management to arrange league matches until our next round opposition is known.
Team : J Barry, B Carroll, C Barry, M Murphy, P Mahon (1-02), T Carroll, C O Neill, R Feeney, A O Sullivan (0-05), B O Donovan (1-01), R Bransfield (0-03), S Moroney (0-02), M Spillane (0-03  1f), T McCarthy (0-01),M J Dorgan (0-03).

Subs : S O Sullivan,D Kenny (0-01), D Beausang.
