Captains prize rescheduled

Unfortunately our captains prize outing to Youghal GC last Saturday had to be cancelled due to the clash with Youghal GC Irish mixed foresome fixtures. It has been rescheduled for Saturday July 18th.

Once again we are preparing for one of our main fundraising events, our 19th Annual Golf Classic. Our 2014 Classic was a great success thanks to all those who contributed so generously, both golfers and sponsors. This year’s event will take place in West Waterford Golf Club on Thursday July 9th, Friday July 10th and Saturday July 11th. We are extremely grateful to Mr JJ Fennelly and Mr James Rochford for coming on board once again this year as main sponsors to the classic. We thank you if you have been a supporter of our Classic in the past, and hope that you will be able to support us once again this year. We are looking for sponsors for Tees and Greens, Classic sponsors and teams of three for a champagne scramble. More details on the many different ways on how you can help are available from Classic Chairman, Mr Ray Rochford on 0872330054.[RR]

Thurles Bound for Munster Final:

Congratulations to David Collins on being chosen to line out on Munster Final Day in Thurles. David has the honour of representing Knockanore N.S in the primary games and play for Waterford. We wish him the very best of luck on the day.

U13 Footballers On Monday 15th June our young footballers travelled to Carrigtwohill to play them at home. It was a perfect evening for football with the sun shining and the grounds in excellent condition. Carrigtwohill got

off to a dream start when we conceded a very early goal from the throw-in. Killeagh/Ita's however were very quick to respond and registered 1-6 before Carrigtwohill tacked on 2 points. Ciaran O Rourke and Christian Coughlan were adamant that Killeagh/Ita's were going into half-time having scored last and both raised the green flag before the ref called time on the first half. Killeagh/Ita's had scored 3-7 to Carrigtwohill's 1-2 . Killeagh/Ita's continued to dominate in the second half. It was a very impressive performance from each of our 16 players and it is fair to say that Killeagh/Ita's were on top from our goalie to our corner forwards. Killeagh/Ita's outscored Carrigtwohill 4-6 to 2-4 in the second half, with Ben scoring a hat-trick and Darragh Buckely skillfully beating the Carrig goalie to raise the green flag. Darragh Coleman in goal made some fantastic saves and stopped a superbly taken penalty only to be narrowly beaten by the rebound. Carrigtwohill found it very difficult to mark Ben and he registered a personal tally of 4-2. Final score on the night was 7-13 to 4-6

The boys are in action again on Tuesday night 23rd June at home in Pairc Ui Chinneide at 7.30 against Kilta Og.

Team: D Coleman, R Farquhar, R Treacy 0-1, B Jennings, P Landers, D Collins, P Kent, B O Connor 4-2, R Bernard, C Couglan 1-5, C Leahy 0-2 , T McCarthy, C O Rourke 1-3, D Buckley 1-0. Sub: A Fitzgibbon

Parish Sports

On Monday evening, June 8th, the parish sports were held at Pairc Ui Chinneide. It was a beautiful evening and the grounds were filled with families and friends of all the primary school competitors. Such a crowd turned up that every available space at our grounds was used up for parking and many people had to park in the village and walk to the pitch. This year it was the turn of Kyle NS to organise the games and, in keeping with previous years, it was very well orchestrated from start to finish and went off without a hitch. Many thanks to the organisers, to all the competitors, to all the marshals and volunteers and especially to all the community who enjoyed the facilities and helped with the tidy-up at the conclusion of the sports.[KS]
