Aghada Juvenile GAA Report

U8 Monster Football Blitz:

On Saturday 13th June, Aghada U8 and U7 footballers travelled to Fr O’ Neills to take part in a monster U8 football Blitz. We entered (2) U8 teams and the U7 team (in Photo) gave an excellent display of football skill through-out each game. These group of players are very committed to training weekly with their excellent coaches in Rostellan, which is evident with the performance that each child gave in all matches. Thanks to the Hosts Fr O’ Neills and Sean Crowley GDA for organising such an essential Blitz to encourage our young players to get involved in Sport which also provides Fun/Social-skills for their development. Thanks to Sean Norris and Declan Devoy (Mentors)

U9 Hurling Match:

On Saturday morning, Rostellan Pitch was very busy with our U9 hurlers, parents and mentors arriving early to set up the playing area, while the young players were eager to have a puck around (observed by the parents). Midleton U9 Players soon jumped out of their cars with their black and white attire and ran to the pitch full of excitement swinging the cáman and waited for the games to commence. Both Clubs provided three teams to take part in this very exciting encounter. Thanks to Rory O’ Connor, and PJ Hurley (Mentors).

Minor Non Exam Hurling League

On Tuesday evening Rostellan was the venue for a non-exam hurling fixture between Aghada V St. Finbarrs. Both teams played with great passion and skill through-out game.

Aghada Minor Hurlers gave a truly brilliant display of hurling in a very entertaining non exam game in Rostellan on Friday Evening against a very competitive Cobh Team. Thanks to Philip, Richie and Joe as Coaches with the Minor Hurling Squad. Our non-exam Minor Footballers are finished their competition, and now await the next round of the Minor Championship.

Thanks to Conor, Ger, Richard, Brendan and Paul as mentors to this great Aghada Minor football Squad.

I’m sure all our players are relieved that the exams have come to an end, and it is now time to chill out, train, play matches and enjoy the summer.

Thanks to all Aghada GAA members who helped to coach Hurling/Football skills to the 1st,2nd and 3rd class children in Aghada, Scartleigh and Whitegate National School through-out the school year. We would also like to thank the teaching staff of all three schools for their involvement in Sciath Na Scol, Primary Games Trials, Rounders and involvement in the Scor Na bPaiste competition.
