Tee box Sponsorship is available for €50 and we would greatly appreciate any support in this regard. We look forward to a very successful outing.

Junior Hurling Division One

Lisgoold 2-19 (26)

Russell Rovers 0-17 (17)

At Lisgoold

2nd of June 2015

Lisgoold tagged on another two points in their fifth outing of the hurling league, in what was a decent match. This rovers team gave a good battling display, although the club wishes a speedy recovery to one of their players who needed an ambulance to be carried off. The scoring on both sides was fantastic and we had some great performances with keeper Ciaran (who got two white flags and a major), John McCarthy, Cathal Cashman and Bryan O’Sullivan rising to the occasion. Rovers seems to dominate the start of this match from start to finish but Lisgoold were always at their tails and it was until the last ten minutes that our sharpness clicked in, we pulled away. In truth, we were up five points with fifteen left and that unfortunate injury to that rovers player, disrupted the whole flow of the game. On resumption the game peeped out to leave us ahead by seven. There are plenty of areas to work on, and a lot of positives to be taken from this match considering the way they played. Although a win was earned out here on this occasion, there is more effort needed to be put in on the training fields, if achieved one believes a good championship run is on the cards for this squad.

Junior Hurling Division One

Lisgoold 2-17 (23)

Carrignavar 2-18 (24)

At Carrignavar

25th of May 2015

Frustration was felt leaving Carrignavar as Lisgoold threw away two points in this league encounter after making a superb comeback. To their credit, even though they were down about six players they put out a fine spirited, battling performance against the hosts. We had a great start when Ciaran Cashman, & Ciaran Cronin scored our first few points. This coupled with Patrick O’Mahony, Bryan O’Sullivan and Rian Hogan performing well, we were doing fine, even our custodian Ciaran was chipping in another point to aid the teams cause. In the first half, points were traded and we had to be on our toes as Carrignavar were a constant threat at our goals. We did crack though as simple mistake allowed them two green flags to end ahead, 2-9 to 0-8 at the short-whistle.

Our keeper Ciaran was alert straight after the start of the second half as the hosts should have got a goal but Ciaran pulled off a smart save. Scores were traded through out as we were in for a right battle. Kieran Cashman and John McCarthy kept the score ticking over and with the help of the quickness of Ryan Hogan kept Lisgoold in the game. Ciaran sparked Lisgoold’s game to life with a bullet of a 21 yard free, Jamie woods got another shortly before a monster free from ‘Cashie’ ensured we were level. They key moment came with a minute remaining with the scores level (2-17 to 2-17) A loose pass from our defence was pounced on by the Carrig forwards who raised the white flag. This was a sucker punch; however we had a chance to redeem the error but couldn’t get a minor. It was disappointing but a lot of positives to take from it.
