Junior Hurling League Division 1

Dungourney 0-8 Erin’s Own 1-9

Wet and windy not good conditions for hurling on Monday. We were against the gale in the first half and struggled throughout. Erin’s Own opened the scoring with two pointed frees in the first ten minutes. We carved out a few chances but poor shooting let us down. Erin’s Own scored five more points in the first half we were unable to reply. Our defense under savage pressure in that first half.

The wind behind us we finally got a score on the board a Shane Hegarty pointed free. Erin’s Own responded and scored a goal and two points more leaving them 1-9 to 0-1 up with ten minutes left. Infairness to the lads they didn’t give up and finished very strongly, Shane pointed three frees in a row. Mike Hickey pointed from play, Shane added two more from frees. James Leahy added a point from play, we had a late goal chance from a 20m free but couldn’t get closer. A disappointing defeat but some decent performances from Dave Hennessy, Mark Hegarty, James Leahy and Eoin Ahern. Plenty to work on from this game and missing over ten players didn’t help. Team Dave Hennessy, Eoin Ahern, Will Daly, Mark Hegarty, John Ronayne, James Leahy(0-1), Jack Griffin, Steven Hickey, Kenneth Kelleher, Karl Kiely, Shay O’Gorman, Paudie Harney, Mike Hickey(0-1), Kevin Kelleher, Dylan Murphy Subs Shane Hegarty(0-6 6f), Denis Broderick, Willie O’Neill.
