Venue Kilshannig

Kilshannig 5-21

Glenville 3-5

On Tuesday night last our under 13 footballers travelled to Kilshannig for this latest league fixture. We decided to play against the strong breeze in the first half and we found ourselves trailing at the interval. Kilshannig who by far are the best team in the Division dominated the match from start to finish as they ran out comfortable winners in the end.

Friday May 22nd under 14 Football Challenge

Venue Glenville

Glenville 12-10

Fermoy 3-1

On Friday night last saw our under 14 footballers entertain Fermoy in a Challenge match. With championship fixed for June 6th against Eire Og this was great preparation for our lads. Conditions on the day were perfect with a very soft Breeze our lads decided to play from Right to left in the first half. We found ourselves dominating the majority of the possession and at the interval we were leading 3-2 to 1-1. Glenville turned up the style in the second half as they blitzed Fermoy apart outscoring them 9-8 to 2-0. Well done lads on a great performance and thanks to Fermoy for coming out to us.

Monday May 25th Division 2 Junior A Football League Round 4

Venue Killeagh

Killeagh 2-5

Glenville 2-9.

Our Junior B Football have maintained their unbeaten run in this year’s league after they saw off a dogged Killeagh side on Monday Night Last. Conditions on the day were perfect our lads decided to play against the light breeze and points coming from Brendan Maloney, Noel Cahill, and Niall Griffin saw us up by 0-6 to 0-0 after 15 minutes. However Glenville were unable to keep up this frantic pace as Killeagh hit back on the counter attack and hit over their first score in the 20th minute. From the resulting kick out we worked a well take goal but the scoring spree didn’t stop there on form Niall Griffin made a darting run up the field as he was on the receiving end from JJ Kearny ball and score Glenville’s second goal with half time approaching. Brendan Maloney hit over his 2nd point of the night to increase our lead out to 12 points. Killeagh responded straight away and hit over their second point on the night. But back on half time something was said to the referee and Glenville were reduced to 14 players. If the second half was going to be the same as the first half we were totally wrong as Killeagh fought their way back into the game with two early goals in the space of 10 minutes. We responded with a jack mc Carthy point. Killeagh who were always dangerous going forward hit over the next three points as the reduced the gap to just 4 points with five minutes remaining. But a Brendan Maloney point from a free increase the lead back out to five to insure that it was Glenville who would take the league points as we remain unbeaten in the league and with three game in hand we are on set on making it back to back league titles.

Juvenile training will continue this Wednesday night from 7-8pm in Glenville.
