Junior Hurling League Division 1

Dungourney 2-14 Russell Rovers 1-8

Another win for the lads on Sunday against Russell Rovers in Dungourney. Rovers played with the wind in the first half and were first to score a point from play. Shane Hegarty got a point from a free, Rovers replied with a point from play. Shane got three points in a row and assisted Niall Motherway for his first point. A goalmouth scramble led to a Rovers goal. Shane got two more points from play one from a great Stephen Hickey pass. Rovers came back and got four points on the trot. Shane again kicked on and scored two more, Jack Griffin pointed on the stroke of half time. Dungourney 0-10 Russell Rovers 1-6

Rovers got the first score of the second half from play, Shane reeled off another three points two frees and a 65. Rovers got another point from a free, Shane replied with another point from a free. We got our first goal on 50 minutes Aidan Rigney won a high ball laid off to Jack who looped around the back and drove the ball to the back of the net. Final score of the game was a fine Shane goal from distance which looped in to the top corner of the net. He assures me he meant it and saw the keeper off his line but I have my doubts. A good win for the lads well done to Dave Hennessy who pulled off a great save today from his first 1v1 penalty. James Leahy and Kevin Rohan were impressive in defence. Kenneth worked tirelessly in midfield. Shane Hegarty was awesome in attack once again.
