Match reports Monday April 6th Junior B Football Championship
Venue Ballynoe
Glenville 4-8
Youghal 1-13
Our junior B footballers have advanced to the quarter final stage of the East cork championship after an impressive victory against Youghal in the Ballynoe venue. Played in sunny sunshine conditions our junior B footballers started off their season with a first round championship meeting against last year’s semi-finalists. From the start our lads took control of the game dominating the midfield area and found themselves leading 2-3 to no score with only 10 minutes gone on the clock. The next 15 minutes were all Youghal with a string of unanswered points and by the 25 minute the teams were level 2-3 to 1-6. The final five minutes of the half were nip and tuck but a Johnny Dorgan goal on 28th minutes had us back in front by three points but Youghal caught us on the counter attack and hit the last three scores of the half to leave the team’s  level at the interval 3-3 to 1-9.  Our lads started the second half as they did the first and Johnny Dorgan was on the receiving end from Darragh O’Callaghan long ball and put the ball in the back of the Youghal next for his third goal of the game. Youghal looked dangerous going forward and by the 45th minutes the sides were level once again but points from Ger Cahill Don Kearney and Shane Bergin restored Glenville’s three point advantage. Youghal showed us why they were always a threat going forward as they caught our lads on the counter attack and almost got in for a goal but thanks to the brilliance of Kevin O’Donovan he stopped the ball from crossing the line with a vital save. Youghal reduced the gap to just two points in the 55th minute leaving the final five minutes very nip and tuck. We finished strong with two points coming from Ger Cahill and Johnny Dorgan as our lads ran out winners on a score line of Glenville 4-8 Youghal 1-13. Well done on a fantastic victory all played brilliant a great team performance. Scores Johnny Dorgan 3-2 Shane Bergin 1-1, Darragh O’Callaghan 0-1, JJ Kearney 0-1, Ger Cahill 0-2 (o-1 from frees) Don Kearney 0-1.
