Junior A Football.

The Junior A footballers continued their preparations for the upcoming championship with a 6 point win over current East Cork champions Glenbower Rovers.

The game was played under the Killeagh lights on last Thursday night. We came out of the blocks well with Diarmuid O’Sullivan goaling after a defensive mix up, and when Colm O’Sullivan from play and a Diarmuid free registered points we were 5 to the good.

Killeagh began to settle well and outscored us by 3 points to one for the remainder of the half to leave us a goal ahead at the break 1.03 to 3 points.

Killeagh opened the second half’s scoring with a pointed free to which Diarmuid replied with a like score.Killeagh with 2 more pointed frees closed the gap to the minimum.

Chris Smith stole up from half back to land an excellent score to stop the rot and although Killeagh score next another pointed free we finished the game scoring 1.02 without reply, Paul O’Sullivan scoring an excellent point sandwiched between 1.01 from placed balls from the foot of Diarmuid.

A good result heading to championship with 5 of Killeagh’s 7 points coming from placed balls.
