JAFC Castlemartyr 0-14 Glenbower Rovers 2-10

Castlemartyr took on reigning East Cork Champions Glenbower Rovers in the preliminary round of the East Cork JAFC in Castlelyons on Sat last in Castlelyons. Missing a number of experienced players, Castlemartyr should be very proud of their efforts and were very unlucky in the end to lose out by just a couple of points.

Castlemartyr were leading by 5 points at half time on a score of 0-09 to 0-04 after playing some excellent football. Adrian Bowens, Jamie Stack, Liam Martin, Cian Haines and Declan Kelly were our standout performers in this half.

After half time, the Killeagh men’s experience proved crucial and the concession of two sloppy goals shifted the momentum in their favor. In the end there was two points in the difference so we now find ourselves in the first round proper where we will face Aghada. This will be a tough assignment for our lads, but if we can play like we did for the first 30 minutes last Saturday than we should be more than capable of progressing in this championship.

Team: MJ Cremin, B Smiddy, R O’Donovan, O Smiddy, Barra O’Tuama, E Ronayne, C Martin, A Bowens(0-01), J Lawton(0-01), Brian O’Tuama(0-02), J Stack(0-06, 0-04f), L Martin(0-01), C Haines(0-01), C Beausang, D Kelly(0-02). Sub Used: N O’Donovan

East Cork U21 Football Final

After defeating Dungourney in a thrilling semi final, Castlegoold now face Castlelyons in the East Cork U21 B football final. With partnership with Lisgoold now in its third year at this age, it would be a great reward to win some silverware. This match is yet to be fixed so keep an eye on the club website for details.
