Cobh GAA Fun Day

04 August, 2009

Cobh Gaa Fun Day – Sat. 1stAugust:The God’s were kind to the organisers of our Fun Day last Saturday. It poured rain all week and on Friday cries of “They’re all mad!” were ringing out as a few brave souls were seen erecting the marquee on a rain soaked pitch and the lads were drenched as the waded home Friday evening. Then on Saturday morning we woke to brilliant sunshine, and, apart from one shower at 11am the day was blessed with one of the nicest days of our‘Irish summer’.

The pitch was beautifully laid out with the marquee,Fidelma’sbouncy castles, the penalty shootout area and the fun races section. The marquee was abandoned for much of the day as people enjoyed the beautiful weather and the children made the most of all the activities available on the day. Karl Long supplied the musical entertainment throughout the day and the 300 people in attendance had a great day.

Everything was tidied up and cleared away by lunchtime on Sunday, with no need to replace the playing surface unlike Croke Park after U2. Well done and a big thank you to Vincent O’Rourke and his team of volunteers for organising such a great day for all of us.

Bouncy Castle!
