PI Hurling

Castlelyons 2-10  Carrigaline  1-21

Castlelyons played their first hurling league match of the year when we played Carrigaline on Sunday afternoon at home. This match was due to be played in Carrigaline but due to their pitch being unavailable the venue was changed to Castlelyons. Carrigaline were first to score and led by 2 points after 5 mins. M Spillane replied with 2 points from frees and teams were level after 10 mins. Carrigaline scored the next 4 points to build up a lead with Castlelyons  replying with points from A Fenton and D Lawlor. Carrigaline were dominating play at this stage and took a 7 point lead until a goal from A Fenton and 2 points from frees by M Spillane cut the deficit to 2 points at half time to leave the score Castlelyons 1-06 Carrigaline 0-11

The second half continued in the same form with Carrigaline stronger in all areas and they added 1-03 to their score in the first 15 mins. Castlelyons had 2 pointed frees from M Spillane but we were struggling to keep with them. A Fenton and A Spillane added 2 more points before a goal from A Fenton gave us hope of a comeback. However this was our last score and Carrigaline added 2 late points to win on a score of 1-21 to 2-10. A disappointing result but great effort from everyone considering we have only started back training and have very little hurling training done. The league continues next weekend when we are away to Valley Rovers in Brinny.
