Intermediate Hurling;

Our first competitive hurling game of the year turned out to be a game of two halves with a strong biting wind dictating matters.

We welcomed Bandon to our new complex and this welcome extended to the playing field as they raced into a 6 points to nil lead after 15 minutes.

A Paudie O’Sullivan pointed free opened our account and would be our only score of the half as we trailed by 10 points 11 points to one at the break.

A few substitutions and positional switches improved matters in the second half and with wind advantage we set about reducing the substantial lead. A Cian Motherway point from play got us on our way and when Paudie’s long range free went all the way to the net we were back into our stride.

A well-worked Ciaran Mullins goal reduced the deficit further but a Bandon pointed free and a straight red card stymied our efforts with 15 minutes to play.

Great credit is due to the team who raised their efforts in the face of this adversity and two pointed Paudie frees’s one from the half back line reduced the deficit to the minimum.

A sustained bit of Bandon play resulted in a pointed 65 to extend the lead to two points with time running out.

A massive point from centre back Killian Cronin after good work from Brian Fleming reduced the gap to the minimum again and matters were leveled with another point from a Paudie free.

We had one chance in extra time but a 100 yard Paudie free fell short to leave the final score 2.07 to 13 points, a satisfactory result considering we were 10 points down and a man down in the second half.
