On the field: our junior footballers staged a second half comeback on Friday night last to earn a draw against St Catherine’s. Played in hurricane conditions and playing against a strong breeze in the first half it was the home team that started off the better leading by 0-5 to 0-0 after 15 minutes. Our lads soon began to pick up the pace and a Denis Buttimer point had us up on running. But Catherine’s went up the field and hit two quick points without reply going into the final five minutes of the half. The lads soon stepped up a gear and points from Ger Cahill and Eoin Barry reduced the deficit to three points at the interval 0-7 to 0-4. Our lads came out with a new look in the second half and three Ger Cahill points in a row brought the teams level and minutes later Denis Buttimer chipped in for his second point of the match to edge us in front by a point. At the opposite end of the field saw Catherine’s get in for the first goal of the match but minutes later our lads were given a penalty but Eoin Barry effort went to the left and wide of the goal. Ger Cahill reduced the deficit to one point with his fourth free. An awkward kick out from the Catherine’s keeper saw David quirk catch a brilliant ball and delivered a long ball into Colm Fenton who turned onto his right and put the ball straight between the posts levelling up the scoring going into the final five minutes. Catherine’s went in searcher for a winner and it looked like they had got it when their effort went straight between the post but our lads broke on the counter attack and won

a free dead straight in front of the post and Ger Cahill had the easy of tap overs with meant at full time it was a draw 1-8 to 0-11.

Our minor footballer’s continued their impressive form in the league as the recorded a two point win over one of the best teams in the league. Played in treacherous conditions on Saturday last our lads made the long journey down to passage for this crucial league game. Our lads started off the better of the two with points coming from Josh Cooke and PJ Denhenny had us 0-4 to 0-0 score up after 15 minutes. Passage soon began to find their form and quick points on the bounce had the margin down to two but a Josh cook free restored our three point advantage going into the final five minutes of the half. But concentration slipped as our lads were caught on the counter attack saw passage get in for the first goal of the match brining the teams’ level. Our lads broke on the counter as the went in search for the lead point and PJ Denhenny long effort saw the ball fly over the ball to put us in front by the minimum at the interval 1-2 to 0-6. Our lads got off to the worst possible start as Passage hit 1-2 without reply in the opening 10 minutes. But our lads stepped up a gear and went on the counter attack and soon the deficit was reduced to three points thanks to a Kyle Cronin point but passage restored their four point advantage. Our lads then hit fifth gear and points coming from Aaron Spriggs and Dilian O’Donovan reduced the margin to the bear minimum but then a little bit of magic saw Kyle Cronin chip the ball over the passage keeper from 10 yards out to put us one point in front. Passage went on search for the equalizer but the brilliance of Kenneth Spriggs in the full back line stopped the passage lads from scoring and turned over possession and sent our lads on the counter attack with saw us win a free. Josh Cooke put the ball straight between the posts as the lads ran out two point

winners on a score line of 2-5 to 1-10. Well done all played brilliant.
