Thurs 12th Feb S F Tadhg Crowley Plate Final Aghada 0-11 Newcetstown 2-9

It's a measure of our progress so far this year that we are disappointed after a hard fought game against a team in a higher league. This game was in the balance for long periods but in the end it was the two first-half goals that proved our undoing. Aghada started the game strongly and went into a two point lead with good scores from Pearse and Aaron Berry. Newcetstown were chasing the game but pulled level on. Scores were traded before Newcetstown scored a goal on 20 minutes. Aghada fought back only to be undone again with a penalty, which was saved by Andy. The ball spun out to a Newcetstown player who was fouled. Another penalty , converted, and Aghada went in at the break 2-5 to 0-6 behind. After the break, we outscored the opposition and scored some good points but the goals made the difference at the final whistle and Newcetstown edged it. So, all in all , a good performance and a good step in our progress. Team and details.
